What Are the GTA VI Limited-Edition PS5 Controllers? Price, Preorder Date, and Compatibility

Sony has confirmed two limited-edition DualSense wireless controllers for Grand Theft Auto VI. The White Limited Edition and Black Limited Edition share the same Vice City-inspired design language but differ in where they are sold.

A Controller Built Around a Look

The most distinctive part is the finish. Sony said in a PlayStation.Blog post that both controllers use a shimmering, color-shifting surface that combines the hues of a Vice City sunset with the glow of neon lights. The lower shell is iridescent blue, the buttons on both sides carry hot pink detailing, and the touchpad shows the Roman numeral VI in gray with Rockstar's official logo treatment.

The detailing is not only visual. Palm tree details are molded directly into the controller, and Engadget's first look noted a palm frond pattern embossed into the handle portions. That gives the pads a tactile link to the game's visual identity before the console is on.

These are DualSense Wireless Controllers, so they connect to a PS5 the same way the standard pads do. The announcement does not describe any new hardware features. Instead, it points to the existing haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, saying they provide dynamic resistance and bring the sights, sounds, and sensations of Jason and Lucia's story to life in the player's hands.

Price, Preorder Date, and Availability

Preorders open September 10 at 10:00 a.m. local time. The controllers launch starting November 19.

The recommended retail price is $84.99 in the US, €84.99 in Europe, £74.99 in the UK, and ¥12,480 including tax in Japan. That puts the limited editions above the standard DualSense price point.

Availability is split in an unusual way. The White Limited Edition will be available in limited quantities globally through direct.playstation.com and at participating retailers. The Black Limited Edition is described as exclusive to direct.playstation.com where that store operates, with select retailers handling other regions. Sony has not published a full list of participating retailers or a production cap, so "limited" is best read as a warning to preorder rather than a promise of scarcity.

Why the Pair Matters

Game-themed controllers often settle for a logo stamp. These two go further, with color-shifting paint, pink buttons, and molded palms that all point to the Vice City imagery running through the design. For PS5 owners who already have a DualSense, there is no new feature to evaluate. The decision comes down to design, price, and going through Sony's direct store for the black version.

Sony has not said how many units will be made or whether stock will reappear after launch. The concrete commitment is the September 10 preorder opening, which is the moment allocations at participating shops are most likely to be decided.
