What Does a GTA 6 Pre-Order Get You? Edition Prices, Preload Dates, and the Fine Print

Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026, at midnight local time, and the choices are easy to get wrong. This guide sorts out the two editions, when the game can be downloaded, and the catch lurking in the physical box.

Two Editions, One Big Price Jump

Rockstar Games has kept the pre-order lineup simple. The standard edition costs $79.99 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Ultimate Edition costs $99.99 and adds exclusive premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action items, according to the official announcement published through Take-Two Interactive.

Anyone who pre-orders, or buys the game before November 20, 2026, gets the Vintage Vice City Pack. It includes the '55 Vapid Stainer vehicle and garage, outfits and hairstyles, and an item called "Channel The Original Kingpin," as detailed by TheGamer's pre-order guide. Digital pre-orders also come with one free month of GTA+.

A Week of Preload Time

Digital pre-orders can preload the game starting November 12, 2026, a full week before the November 19 launch. That means players can have the files on their console early and avoid a last-minute download on release day.

The physical edition is less straightforward. Rockstar's announcement says the physical edition contains a download code inside the box, available starting November 12, 2026 to support pre-loading. In other words, the box is effectively a key rather than a disc. Anyone who expects a traditional physical release should pay close attention to that detail before committing.

Leaks and the Statement That Followed

The pre-order news has been tangled up with leaks. Rockstar acknowledged that leaked gameplay footage was legitimate and called it "heartbreaking for our team," according to Engadget. The company also said the game is nearly finished. The person who released the clips claimed to be protesting what they described as anti-consumer practices, including Rockstar's decision to put a download code in the physical edition.

For anyone deciding whether to pre-order, the important point is that Rockstar responded to the leaks without announcing a delay. It also planned to show an extended look at the game on Netflix, which suggests the marketing push is moving forward. The leak exposed more gameplay than the publisher wanted out, but it has not been treated as a reason to change the pre-order plan.

What the pre-order actually gets you is a guaranteed copy, a week of preload time, the Vintage Vice City Pack, and, for digital buyers, a month of GTA+. What it does not get you is a traditional physical disc in every edition. That distinction matters more than the price difference.
