What’s Inside GTA 6’s $400 Collector’s Set—and Why the Game Isn’t in the Box
Rockstar Games has opened preorders for a $400 Grand Theft Auto 6 merchandise bundle called GTA 6: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection. The box does not include a copy of the game. That distinction matters.
According to IGN, the set contains a pair of Oakley sunglasses, a bobblehead, a hat, pins, stickers, and a variety of other items built around the game’s Vice City-inspired setting. The full checklist has not been revealed in detail, so some of the smaller pieces are still unnamed. The set is scheduled to release on November 19 and is available to preorder now through Rockstar’s website.
This is not a traditional collector’s edition. A conventional special edition puts a game disc or download code in the box alongside extras. Here, the merchandise is the whole product. Buyers who want to play GTA 6 must purchase the game separately, which pushes the total cost well beyond $400.
The historical context makes the omission of a physical map stand out. IGN notes that previous GTA and Red Dead standard editions have routinely included a physical map. The collector’s set, at least as described so far, does not appear to follow that practice. For players who value that kind of supplementary material, the absence is noticeable.
The reasoning behind the split is not detailed in the initial announcement. The structure is easy enough to read: a high-priced merch bundle keeps pre-launch momentum going without interfering with game orders. It also gives the studio a way to sell apparel and collectibles at a premium months before launch.
What buyers get, then, is a themed collection of physical goods. What they do not get is the game, a map, or any confirmed in-game bonuses. The $400 price tag covers merchandise only. Anyone considering the preorder should understand that the set is a separate purchase from the game itself—and the total cost of both is significantly higher.
